Miami Boat Show in February

Covid-19 continues to present many challenges but there isn't a better place than Miami in February with our glorious weather which offer plenty of opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy the cooler and drier temperatures, yes, our winter is perfect beach weather!

February in Miami normally packs an exciting roster of top signature events celebrating the best in art, food and boating: the Coconut Grove Art Festival, the Miami Boat Show and the South Beach Wine and Food Festival... This year, however, due to the Covid-19 measures and international nature of the events, both the Miami Boat Show and Coconut Grove Arts Festival have been cancelled. The SoBe Wine and Food Festival is still schedule to go ahead but has been postponed to May.

Large concert and sports venues are beginning to welcome visitors following all social-distancing measures and with reduced capacity. This month features a weekend of NASCAR Racing at Homestead Speedway. In the entertainment camp, many of the smaller and outdoor venues have re-open and have quite a roster of events lined up for February.

If you are a nature lover, our State and National parks are teeming with wildlife, our State and National Parks are all open and this is one of the best times for bird-watchers and photographers, so grab your binoculars and lenses and enjoy!

A venue for national product introductions, the auto show showcases more than a thousand new vehicles from over 40 manufacturers from around the world - a collection that auto enthusiasts wait all year to see.

This signature South Florida event is back with popular returning exhibits, including Memory Lane celebrating nostalgia of the 50s and Ride & Drive where you are more than an spectator and take the wheel!

Art Wynwood - Cancelled

Art Wynwood is a relative newcomer to Miami's art show scene but quickly gaining recognition among contemporary art lovers, collectors and connoisseurs.

Art Wynwood is back on President's Day weekend and continues to showcase a dynamic array of works completely reflective of the original Wynwood District cutting edge and dynamic environment. Emerging talent from the contemporary art scene as well as blue chip modern masters will be featured.

New this year is the debut of the Miami Yacht show just accross from Art Wynwood and on the waterfront.

Chinese New Year Festival 2021
Year of the Ox Celebrations - CANCELLED

Chinese New Year Festival Miami

Chinese New Year is the largest festival in the Asian community calendar which this year welcomes the Year of the Ox.

Colorful celebrations featuring Lion Dances and Dragon Parades as well as cultural performances will take place over the traditional fifteen day holiday period all throughout South Florida. Chinese New Year Day is on February 12, 2021.

Lion Dances and parades are hosted by restaurants and martial art schools throughout the city. Other festivals, spiritual activities and cultural demonstrations are sponsored throughout the first two weeks of the new year.

The largest celebration takes place at Miami Dade College, Kendall campus, jointly hosted by the Confucius Institute and the Chinese Cultural Foundation in Miami, normally on the Sunday following Chinese New Year's Day.

What can you expect? Lion Dances, tai chi demonstrations, calligraphy, face painting, acrobatics, arts and crafts, bounce houses ans slides, and of course, lots of food and the Dragon Parade.

South Beach Wine and Food Festival
presented by Food & Wine - Postponed to May 20 - 23, 2021

South Beach Wine and Food Fest

This five-day affair of glorious food, famous chefs, flowing champagne, or wine... or beer... will be attracting its share of foodies to one of the most spectacular places to be in February, gorgeous South Beach.

The festival consists of several events, some private, some open to the trade only, and many many more open to the public for all of our enjoyment. What kind of events? Brunches, Cocktail Parties, Seminars, Dinners, Burger Bashes, Wine Tastings, VIP galas... you name it, and of course the Grand Tasting Village set up in tents along 13th Street and Ocean Drive.

In addition, there are special live performances throughout the festival. Announced for this year: Rev Run, Nu Deco Ensemble, DJ Irie, The Hails, Laine Hardy, DJ Jarobi White, The Eclectic Circus, The David Grutman Experience Featuring Busta Rhymes and Cedric Gervais and more!

Where? Events take place at many different venues, mostly in the South Beach area, some of the regulars: the Delano, the Fountainbleau, the Ritz Carlton.

South Miami Rotary Art Festival - 2021 Suspended

Join us at the 36th annual South Miami Rotary Art Festival, an annual, two-day outdoor art festival held in the charming and vibrant downtown area of South Miami. The show offers a weekend of exhibition by 150 local and national artists, an expanded food court and beer garden, and live jazz perfomance onstage, with an open jam until 8 pm on Saturday.

The event is always family and dog friendly. Come and celebrate your local and national arts community! All profits used by the Rotary Club of South Miami to fund scholarships and local community projects.

When? 2021 Suspended - Festival hours are Saturday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (stay until 8:00pm on Saturday for live jazz onstage at the beer garden at 58th Avenue and Sunset) and Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Where? Downtown South Miami, on Sunset Drive between US1 and 57 Avenue
How Much? There is free admission for patrons with ample nearby parking on-street and in garages.

The Speedway's race weekend will once again feature a full slate of exhilarating racing and exciting entertainment as two of NASCAR's national series come to South Florida. This February 2021 NASCAR weekend will host a reduced number of fans due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with enhanced safety protocols and procedures to provide a safe environment for guests and everyone involved in bringing these events which normally feature:

MOAD Body Electric exhibit

Located at the National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower, Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) offers groundbreaking exhibitions and programs that aim to foster a reimagined Miami. The new initiative is designed to make art accessible to all in the community, as well as visitors.

Free admission on Thursday evenings will continue indefinitely and includes admission to the galleries of MDC Special Collections - the Kislak Center and the Cuban Legacy Gallery.

Miami Design District Free Outdoor Concerts

Free Gloria Gaynor Concert at the Design District in Miami

The Miami Design District Performance Series kicks off in the fall and is a fantastic chance to enjoy live FREE outdoor concerts, our marvelous weather as it starts to cool off all wrapped in a fantastic South Florida atmosphere. The events are put together by the Knight Foundation, Design District developer Craig Robins and our very own Emilio Estefan and are free for all to enjoy. (THANK YOU!!!!)

The season normally starts in October and runs through the Holidays. Taking the stage on Friday evenings are performers in all sorts of genres from classical, pop, salsa... last year we had Gloria Gaynor, Jose Luis Rodriguez (El Puma), the Miami Symphony Orchestra... it's an eclectic bunch and regardless of who appears at Palm Court, it is always an enjoyable evening and a great way to kick start your weekend. And did I mention it's FREE?!!!
